Dr. O. Lawrence Stitt III is a native of Los Angeles, CA. He graduated from San Diego State University with a B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology. While attending San Diego State, he received the Fogarty Fellowship in Scientific Research and studied HIV transmission while living in Uganda, East Africa for 6 months.

His research was subsequently published in several peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Stitt then received his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. He completed his OB/GYN residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center where he received numerous awards including Resident Teacher of the Year and earned the designation Administrative Chief Resident. Following residency, he and his wife (an OB/GYN as well) relocated to Columbus GA, as his wife was stationed as a military physician at Fort Benning Army Post.

While in Columbus, Dr. Stitt started a private practice that introduced cutting-edge surgical techniques to patients who otherwise would not have access to these options in rural Georgia. He also served as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Doctors Hospital and served in this position until returning home to MD at the conclusion of his wife’s military obligation.

He served as Associate Medical Director for a bustling practice at Mercy Medical Center for 5 years. His passion for surgery and desire to treat women suffering from uterine fibroids led him back to the University of Maryland Capital Region Health where he served as the Medical Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery. He is also the Founder and served as the Medical Director of their Fibroid and Pelvic Pain Center. He is currently the founder and CEO of The Caronette Fibroid and Pelvic Wellness Center here in Maryland.

He has presented on minimally invasive treatment options to hysterectomy at AAGL, and the Society of Gynecological Surgeons national conferences. He travels nationally to teach other surgeons the use of cutting-edge fibroid treatment technology with uterine preservation as his focus. Dr. Stitt also has had multiple appearances on Baltimore’s local news programs including WBAL-TV, WJZ-TV, and WBFF-TV discussing a host of women’s issues. Dr. Stitt spends his free time with his wife and daughter. He is a self-proclaimed “field hockey dad” – as he supports his daughter’s passion for playing field hockey. He enjoys golfing, fitness, and traveling.
